We've built Thrive Budget Buddy so you can understand your spending without putting your personal information at risk. Here's exactly what happens to your information.
Your statement is read in your browser
When you upload a bank statement (PDF, CSV or Excel), the file is read and analysed entirely inside your own browser. The original document — with your account numbers, balances and personal details — is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. We don't keep a copy of it anywhere.
Only your transaction list is saved
The tool reads your statement, pulls out the individual line items (date, description and amount) and then discards the file. What's saved is just that tidy list of transactions — so you can review your categories and come back to your budget later — not the original document.
Without signing in, nothing leaves your device
If you use the tool without creating an account, your transaction list is saved only in your browser on the device you're using. It doesn't go anywhere else. If you choose to sign in, your budget is saved behind your own login, and the database is set up so that only you can see and change your own information — no other user can access it.
You're in control
You can clear your transactions and start again at any time using the "Clear all" option on the statement analysis page. If you'd like your saved data removed from your account, please get in touch and we'll take care of it.
Your actual bank statement never leaves your computer or phone. We never see it or store it. The only thing we keep is a list of your transactions so your budget is there when you come back — and that's protected behind your login if you choose to sign in.
Your information travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. You can delete your data at any time.
